Bike Eastern Suburbs

Encouraging cycling throughout Auckland's Eastern Bays and beyond

Bike Eastern Suburbs was originally set up as a Facebook page in 2009 and now has over 670 followers.
However, with people's increasing disengagement from social media, we have set up this page as a noticeboard so those who don't follow Facebook can find out more about us and get involved.
We will still be running our Facebook page, this is just another means of engaging with our cycling community.
Bike Eastern Suburbs is volunteer run and operates as part of Bike Auckland's "Bike Burb" initiative that works with local bike groups throughout Auckland.

A Little bit about us

We're a small team of volunteers who aim to promote cycling and safe cycling infrastructure in the Eastern Suburbs of Auckland, New Zealand, from Parnell to Panmure and beyond.
We have occasional meet-ups. picnics, night rides and let you know what else is happening in the neigbourhood and elsewhere in Tamaki Makaurau.
Active in advocating for safer cycling infrastructure, we make submissions to Auckland Transport and the Local Boards on behalf of our followers.
Bike Eastern Suburbs is also closely involved with supporting Active Apirana and their plans for local mountain bike trails in the Apirana Reserve.

Love Your Path

Our Love Your Path scheme has been running for over 18 months. It initially started as a community clean up day on our local shared path, but has become a monthly event with a team of people spending a couple of hours a month, weeding, planting, trimming bushes and collecting rubbish.
We meet at the top of the Glen Innes to St Johns shared path (Te Ara Ki Uta Ki Tai Stage 1) at 9.00 on the second Sunday of the month. Bring water, gloves, and sunscreen. We have tools and gloves you can borrow if you have none. Everyone welcome and kid friendly.
If you'd like to be put on our reminder email list where we let you know what we are focusing on, contact us at [email protected].
